  • The store is currently run by the third generation of the founding family Appelboom. The name Duikelman is not a family name, but based upon a special light switch invented by a family member, called a "duikelmannetje" (a small tumbling man). So never ask if mister Duikelman is around!

  • Duikelman is the most famous cookware shop of Amsterdam and perhaps even of the Netherlands. Initially, around 1940, a shop specialized in butcher equiped, Duikelman has transformed from a supplier of professional kitchen equipement to a kitchenware paradise for all enthousiastic food lovers. The professional roots still show, though.
